On October 30, 2020, the 2020 Suzhou International Design Week kicked off on Guanqian Street in Suzhou. Leaders in attendance included Li Yaping, Deputy Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Suzhou; Huang Aijun, Member of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Gusu District Party Committee; Wang Yang, Deputy Mayor of Suzhou; Zhou Wei, Secretary-General of the Suzhou Municipal Government, among others. They attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
The 2020 Suzhou International Design Week, with the theme "Industrial Empowerment, Urban Interconnection," aimed to explore the guiding path of creative design for urban renewal, community building, and value consumption, as well as the digital transformation of the creative design industry in the 5G era through the development of major designs and optimization of international cooperation. It leveraged the advantage of Suzhou's historical city IP resources to promote the accelerated rise of new consumption through the integration of online and offline activities, contributing to the creation of a new cultural identity for Suzhou as a city of creative design.
More than 300 people attended the opening ceremony, including leaders from Suzhou city and Gusu district, important guests from multiple countries including France, Italy, and Australia, guests from the domestic and international cultural, tourism, design, and art sectors, as well as representatives from various sectors in Suzhou. Together, they worked to integrate Suzhou's cultural new economy construction into the strategy of integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta.
During the opening ceremony, Chairman Wei Jianhua, on behalf of CCUI and the Gusu District People's Government, signed the "Strategic Partnership Agreement for International Boutique Hotel Clusters." China Hi-Tech Group will introduce top international hotel brands, combine them with high-quality cultural and tourism resources, and integrate "food, accommodation, travel, and shopping" in the old city area of Gusu, promoting the upgrading of Suzhou's cultural and tourism economic consumption. Through strengthened strategic cooperation, both parties will accelerate Suzhou's integration into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and achieve a win-win situation for government-enterprise cooperation in strengthening and refining the cultural and tourism industry in Suzhou, making new contributions to advancing Suzhou's high-quality development ahead of the times.
